House rules

Welcome!
We hope you will enjoy your stay here.
Please read the instructions below for proper handling of this house, thanks 😉
Access road
Please note that when big rain is predicted, you might rather park your car at the main road.
Parking at the main road: Park your car in the meadow, but parallel to the road. Its best to have the nose of your car pointing downhill, then you can easily get out of the meadow:
There is a gate for horses halfway on the road to the house. If it is closed, please close it again after you pass. When there are horses, you can call us to open the gate for you.
Drinking water:
Our drinking water is pumped from 85 meters deep and is filtered with UV-C filter for possible biological contamination. The last test said the water is drinkable, but we need to do a new test soon. Therefore we consider the water not drinkable and we left you bottles with drinking water, in case you would like to drink uncooked water.
In the toilet is on the left wall a small cabinet. Inside is the water filter system for this house. It contains two particle filters and an UV-C filter. The UV-C filter is in the stainless steel tube. UV-C light is harmful to people when you get directly exposed to it. It can cause, for example, skin cancer and blindness. Therefore never try to look inside this tube. Better, do not open the cabinet.
The UV-C filter might heat the water while it is standing still at the lamp (when you do not use water). As a result you might sometimes get warm water from the cold tap. Just let it run, and it will be cold again in seconds.
Toilets:
Please note that we have a biological wastewater processing tank. It has a few restrictions. It can’t work very well with material that does not dissolve, so toilet paper is good, but wet baby wipes do not dissolve, and we need to take them out of the tank, by hand, occasionally. The same is valid for women's sanitary products. It is greatly appreciated when you do not throw them in the toilet!
Hot water
There is a 125 Liter boiler for hot water. In case you use all the hot water, it takes about 4 hours for the boiler to have a full load of hot water again. Please note that when using the shower, the water might run into the kitchen, when you handle the water very expressively, or when you don’t close the shower curtain.
Kitchen
You can cook water with the water kettle that is on the stove. Please do not make tea in the water kettle but rather in a cup.
Trampoline
In the yard is a big trampoline. It can be used by children and adults. Its max allowed weight is 130 Kg. Children should always be supervised by adults. And for safety reasons only one person should be on the trampoline at a time, to prevent the risk of jumping on each other. Pay attention not to fall out of the trampoline through the entrance gate.
Ticks
Please be aware of ticks when it’s not winter. Especially after walks or walking through knee high grass, chances of picking up a tick are high.
Barbeque
There is a small ‘round’ barbeque. Please use it safely. Please do not leave it unattended
Outside campfire
On the down terrace is a place for a campfire. Wood is next to the fire, or if no wood, asks us for wood or get some branches out of the woods. Please do not use the firewood meant for the inside stove.
Horses
Please, please, please do not feed the horses.
If you want to pet them, always stay behind the fence. Pay attention, unwanted actions from you or interaction between horses can result in you being (accidentally) bitten or kicked. Do not go between the horses. Do not go in the horse meadow, when you see the horses.
Our horses are not regular horses you find on a ranch. These are live, expressive, curious and interacting horses that might unintentionally hurt you.
Music
There is a radio/cd/cassette player, to which you can connect your telephone.
Garbage
At the main street (The asphalt road) Is a black/blue container for garbage. At the beginning of Kralova are standing several yellow containers for plastics. Drink cartons and tin cans go in the plastic garbage.
Glass and paper can be left, we will once a while bring this to the garbage recycle centre in Zvolen. Plastic water or drink bottles should not be thrown away, we return them to the shop.
Cats
Please do not let the cats in the house! They are outside cats. Rather also do not feed them or leave food on the outside table unattended. When cats are around, they will try all you left on the table, and for sure stick around for more goodies. And if you hear weird scratching on the window at night, it is probably a cat trying to convince you to let her in.
Fireplace
Wood for the fireplace can be found outside on the right from the entrance door under the roof.
Please use that wood only for the inside stove, not for the outside campfire. It is nice dry and chopped wood. It is lots of work to prepare.
There is a big axe for chopping wood and a smaller axe for chopping small wood. Take care of fingers and legs when using!
Making fire:
It is advised not to make fire in summer. In summer, making fire can lead to smoke! Since there is little temperature difference inside/outside the chimney will not pull up the smoke that well.
- Put a firestarter (Pepo, you find it next to the bed), light it, and put small wood over it.
- Close the door of the fireplace.
- Make sure the air inlets are all open.
- Regulate the amount of heat with the amount of wood. 2 pieces for a small fire, 4 pieces for a bigger fire.
Important Notes:
- Do not close all air inlets on the fireplace. This will result in very dirty and unclean burning. It smells outside, it is bad for nature, and bad for the chimney, which will be lined by condensed unburned gasses. It could even result in Chimney fire. Leave at least 2 air inlets open.
- Do not leave the fire burn unattended, so also leave no fire while sleeping. Use the electrical heater during the night.
- Do not stack the fireplace full of wood. This is dangerous. Keep a normal fire, not a firestorm.
- Do not stack the fireplace with wood, close all air inlets to let it smother. I have seen this as a habit by people who are used to heating with a woodstove. But for this type of wood stove it is actually very dangerous and can let CO gasses fill the room, which is deadly. Besides that it is very bad for the chimney and nature. Please, please don’t do this.
- The fireplace gets hot! Instruct small children not to touch it. Take care not to leave drying towels too close.
- There is a Carbon Monoxide alarm next to the bed. It has two readings: Temperature and Carbon Monoxide PPM. It should never measure any Carbon Monoxide, so it should always read 000 for Carbon Monoxide. If you have a reading or the alarm sounds, please let the fire burn out, ventilate the space until the reading is 000 again, and contact us as soon as possible. A reading over 200 can be deadly when sustained for 3 hours . Make sure the alarm is at the height of your head when sleeping (and between you and the stove, so on the left nightstand)
- On the ceiling is a smoke alarm. If that sounds, you have smoke in the house. Check for fire and extinguish it, and contact us. A fire extinguisher is next to the entrance door
Checkout
Checkout is till 11:00. If you would like to stay till after lunch, just ask, often it is possible. On checkout please do the dishes and dry them. Close the windows and make sure the inside door is closed. You can leave the keys in the doors, and please let us know that you left.
Telephone and Internet
We have a full Telekom 4G signal, but users of other operators will not have any signal here. Orange and O2 signal can be caught at the main road, or possibly already halfway our road.
